Parkway Is An Icon Of St.Catharines.

We’ve enjoyed a long, successful 60 year run so far, and have grown a lot right alongside the rest of the city, but we aren’t going anywhere. We are only getting better from here.

As we continue to make strides, it’s important to remember where we came from. Here’s a trip down memory lane for those of you who have always known our iconic green sign peering out on Ontario Street.
  • 1958

Back in 1958, two men named Archie Katzman and Len Herzog got bored of their everyday lives. Katzman was a member of a local Jewish family in St. Catharines, and had been successful owning a taxi cab business, but he was ready for a change.

What could be more fun than bowling? Katzman and Herzog both agreed on the answer- nothing! They quickly went into business together and opened Parkway Lanes. Even though they both continued to go on with more local businesses and philanthropy, they always made sure that the people of St. Catharines had somewhere fun to go.

Although Katzman and Herzog loved everything about owning a bowling alley, they decided that Parkway Lanes could use a fresh new take. This meant a new owner to give it some love.

The Nitsopoulos family took over Parkway Lanes in 1997, under the Heart of Niagara Hotels organization. The family had one goal in mind: to bring comfort and convenience to the Niagara crowd, showing them what the region has to offer. Under Heart of Niagara Hotels’ ownership, Parkway was later expanded to include the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites and J.J.Kapps restaurant in 1998.

Lounge SIX, the trendy rooftop patio above the Holiday Inn, opened in 2013 and was possibly the first high-rise commercial rooftop patio in St. Catharines.

This patio set a new standard for us and helped us tower high above the rest- literally and figuratively. With room for 60 people, guests can enjoy the view while lounging and sipping on their favourite drinks, or watching their favourite team win on the giant projection screen on the wall.

In 2016, we decided Parkway needed a little retro action, so we expanded to include the brand new arcade, changing our name to Parkway Lanes & Arcade. The wide variety of classic and new arcade games allowed us to give each guest the opportunity to play their own way. From shooting games to sports games, we introduced games suited for every personality.

    our new RESTAURANT

J.J.Kapps has served us well, but our brand new restaurant will provide the ultimate dining and entertainment experience with drool-worthy meals and tasty drink concoctions.

A new, open-concept plan will allow us to tie together the Parkway Social atmosphere and allow our guests to enjoy the excitement from anywhere in the building. Construction begins in the fall of 2018 and is set to be completed by the new year. We can’t wait to serve up some of our amazing new ideas.

    an all new ROOFTOP PATIO

The last piece of the puzzle for Parkway Social will be the addition of our all-new rooftop patio in Spring 2019.

After enjoying a fun night of bowling or laser tag, you’re invited to head up to the roof and relax with a cold drink. There is no patio like this one in St. Catharines. Enjoy lounging above Ontario Street with friends or family on a beautiful summer night.
Spring can’t come fast enough for us.
